Learn more about us and watch the Friendship Inn story.
The Friendship Inn first opened its doors on March of 1969. We have seen many changes to our building, programs and staff. One thing that has never changed is our commitment to a regular meal service. We had a short video created to tell you the story of the Friendship Inn.
Wow!! Can you believe the Friendship Inn is 50 years old? We held our 50th Anniversary celebration on September 12th with our guests, volunteers, donors, past and present board members and community partners. When the Inn was first established the idea was to create a place for people to come for a hot, nutritious meal, as well as a place for people to come for friendship and companionship. Today that mission still holds true, on September 12th we saw first-hand how our community still comes together to support everyone. We are very thankful for all of the support from volunteers, donors, past and present staff, past and present board members, and community partners. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special milestone with us.
We cannot say Thank You enough. On June 11th we had three groups come and help us out through United Way’s Day of Caring. We are so honoured to have Saskatchewan Blue Cross come and transform two spaces for our staff, our staff room and outdoor patio area. They managed to create wonderful, calming spaces for our staff to refresh and relax during breaks. SIGA came in and transformed our classroom. They were here bright and early to start painting the room and to replace the flooring. They created a bright welcoming space for groups that come into our building. SaskTel sponoured our community BBQ. They jumped right into action and joined our kitchen in preparing the meal and served the meal for our guest. We had a blast wathcing the spaces transform and hearing all of the laughter throughout the building. We look forward to next year’s Day of Caring.
Who could ask for a better Valentine’s Day?!? We had a fantastic day at the Inn celebrating Valentine’s Day with individuals from Saskatoon Regional Medical Assocation, SMA and our guests. The SRMA and SMA created three teams of volunteers to come create their best chili during the day with our staff and then came back in the evening to serve a Valentine’s Day chili supper to the guests of the Inn. All you heard in the building all day was the sound of laughter and fun. It was amazing to work with these individuals as they came to cook and serve.
