The Saskatoon Friendship Inn relies on volunteers who generously give their time and take on a wide variety of tasks that are critical to our commitment to provide a daily meal service and friendship for people in need. In signing this waiver as a volunteer you are desiring to provide volunteer services and engage in activities related to serving as a volunteer at the Saskatoon Friendship Inn.
AS A VOLUNTEER:
- I am 18 years of age or older.
- I am subject to Saskatoon Friendship Inn direction and policy.
- I am assigned volunteer duty at the sole discretion of the Saskatoon Friendship Inn.
- I am giving my time to serve at the Saskatoon Friendship Inn and expect no further compensation in return for services provided.
READINESS FOR SERVICE
- I am physically and mentally fit to perform the duties as assigned to me.
- I have disclosed any limitations on my ability to perform my duties.
- I am under no legal impediment to performing volunteer duty and will comply with providing any Criminal Record check requested by the Saskatoon Friendship Inn.
SAFETY
- I have been equipped to work safely and will do so, acknowledging that there are inherent risks in these volunteer activities.
- At any time, if I am concerned about my ability to safely perform any duty, I will advise the Saskatoon Friendship Inn immediately and cease performing a duty if safe to do so.
GOODS AND PROPERTY
- I understand all items donated to or purchased by the Friendship Inn are the property of the Inn, and that I will not remove any food or goods without consent from the Director of Operations or Executive Director.
- I understand surveillance cameras are located throughout the building and are monitored on a 24-hour basis; any volunteers caught stealing will be immediately banned from the Volunteer Program.
SAFEGUARDING AND CODE OF CONDUCT
- I understand the Friendship Inn desires a safe and respectful environment that protects people from abuse and harm, particularly guests of the Inn who may be especially vulnerable. Interactions with guests should be approached with a service mindset and be limited to activities directly related to provisioning meals within the Friendship Inn dining room.
RIGHT OF REFUSAL The Saskatoon Friendship Inn reserves the right to refuse any individual from the Volunteer Program at any time if concern or circumstance arise that may impede or put at risk the effective fulfillment of the Mission of the organization.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND INDEMNITY
- As a volunteer with the Saskatoon Friendship Inn and thereafter, I cannot release any information about the Saskatoon Friendship Inn, its management, personnel, stakeholders, donors, partners, volunteers or operations, to any party for any purpose, except as compelled by legal authority.
- A breach of the confidentiality outlined above, while volunteering with the Saskatoon Friendship Inn may constitute a form of cause for termination. In addition, a breach of confidentiality either during or post involvement may constitute grounds for immediate injunctive relief halting the offending conduct, as well as damages to the Saskatoon Friendship Inn for any loss incurred due to that conduct.
- I recognize I am responsible for my own insurance coverage in the event of personal injury or illness as a result of any services provided and I am not covered by any workers compensation or similar insurance that would pay medical bills incurred because of any injury I may receive while volunteering.
- I hold harmless and agree to indemnify the Saskatoon Friendship Inn, its directors, employees, agents and volunteers from all claims, liability, and damages I may sustain from any bodily injury, personal injury or property damage which may occur from any cause, including negligence, before, during or after any Saskatoon Friendship Inn event in which I participate.
- I will cooperate with the Saskatoon Friendship Inn in any investigation of any incident.
PHOTO AND SOCIAL MEDIA AUTHORIZATION
- I hereby grant to the Saskatoon Friendship Inn and its agents, to use my name, appropriate work-related photograph(s) and video(s) for promotional purposes including its website, articles, or other social media pages such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and BlueSky.
- These photos, images, or videos will be used strictly for the purpose of showing the daily activities that occur at the Saskatoon Friendship Inn to promote and encourage donor support.
- I understand photography and videorecording, including with any personal device, may only be taken with the advance permission and presence of a manager to respect and protect the privacy and confidentiality of guests of the Inn.
This waiver shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Saskatchewan and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
