The Friendship Inn currently has programming available that provides a variety of supports to the community. These programs are essential to the community we serve as it is not always easy for our guests to have access to discuss important issues that they face daily. Following is a brief description of some of the programs provided through our Family Worker Lorraine Scott, Bsw Rsw.
Lorraine has 22 years’ experience as a Social Worker and in Mediation. She has facilitated groups in Mental Health, Corrections and Community Based Organizations. She is a strong advocate for those experiencing difficulties while working with Government agencies.
Grief and Loss Support Group:
Loss is an inevitable part of life, and grief is a natural part of the healing process. The reasons for grief are many, such as the loss of a loved one, the loss of health, or the letting go of a long-held dream. Dealing with a significant loss can be one of the most difficult times in a person’s life. This group provides ongoing education and support for anyone that is experience grief due to loss.
The group runs each Thursday 12:30 to 2:30 and participants must register by calling:

Parenting Essentials Group:
Are you looking to learn some parenting skills, gain some confidence in your parenting skills? Come take part in our Parenting Essentials group with material that covers 5 areas: Body, Mind, Safety, Behaviour and Parents. Educational books are provided and guest speakers join us and share resources and information. Group participants also learn through sharing their experiences with each other. Group is available for all persons caring for young children.
This group is a one week course and offers a Certificate for those that attended each class.

Anger Management:
Are you or someone you know struggling to control your anger. Join our Anger Management group where participants will learn to identify their anger cycle and how to break that cycle as well as other methods of controlling their anger. Group participants learn through sharing their experiences with each other and from the facilitator. This group is available for all persons.
One week course and offers a Certificate for those that attend each class.

Dynamic Parenting:
This is a parenting group based on human values and the home and family as the basic social institution. It teaches with five principles: human Values of Truth, Right conduct, Peace, love and Non-violence in family life). This group is open to all persons and is currently being offered via Zoom Meetings. Certificates are available to all participants upon completion.
